About Our Advocacy Services

Through our advocacy program, The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley works directly with families to find their voices. We provide advocacy to families through:

  • Understanding rights and laws that impact individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Connecting families to resources, services and supports
  • Developing advocacy skills
  • Navigating service systems
  • Developing systems of support

The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley provides advocacy services free of charge to all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as their families, support persons, educators, and concerned members of the community. Our service areas include the City of Winchester and the Counties of Clarke, Frederick and Shenandoah.

Please note that while some of our advocacy work is based on the law, we are not a legal service and are not permitted to offer legal advice.
